MissionLa Leche League is the world’s foremost authority on breastfeeding. Our mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education. We want to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.
La Leche League International is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization and is now celebrating its 64th year. Today volunteer La Leche League Leaders reach over 300,000 women in 62 countries every month. |
AboutMeetings are open to any interested woman. Babies and expectant women are always welcome; men are welcome at special meetings only. Bring questions, concerns, and/or joys on any aspect of breastfeeding. Meetings generally last one hour, and run on "baby time" so don't worry about joining late. All meetings right now are virtual due to Covid-19. Meetings are always led by an accredited volunteer Leader.
Begin attending any meeting and attend as many as you like- meetings are always free. Series meetings have specific topics, but we take all questions at all meetings. If you wish to continue after your first meeting, we encourage you to buy a La Leche League membership which supports these meetings and this local volunteer organization. |
Diversity StatementLa Leche League of Manhattan’s goal is to foster a positive and inclusive environment for all families who are interested in breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human milk feeding. Accordingly, we are committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion among Leaders within our organization and the communities we serve.
