DIVERSITY STATEMENT
La Leche League of Manhattan's goal is to foster a positive and inclusive environment for all families who are interested in breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human milk feeding. Accordingly, we are committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion among Leaders within our organization and the communities we serve.
We believe that a wide array of perspectives allow all organizations to be more effective. We seek diversity to ensure that an array of perspectives, opinions, and experiences are voiced, recognized, and acted upon in achieving our mission of providing support, encouragement, information, and education to all families who want to breastfeed, chestfeed, or human milk feed.
We embrace and respect the differences that make Leaders and the members of the communities we serve unique. For La Leche League of Manhattan, diversity encompasses individual differences including but not limited to race, color, age, religion, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, family or marital status, disability, mental and physical ability, language, political affiliation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other individual characteristics.
We believe that the collective sum of these individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, and self-expression represents a significant part of La Leche League League of Manhattan’s values. By increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion, we believe that we will access more expansive and varied ideas and perspectives, which will better serve all members of the community.
